In case you were dying to know --- and in my new world of constant TMI as a preggie, I'm sure you were! --- my placenta is apparently "low-lying" (cue Foghat song here), which means that we had to have another ultrasound today. Oh, and my glucose test, which wasn't nearly as bad tasting as people told me it would be. I credit this to my days of drinking god-knows-what-in-a-cup at parties during my years at Ohio State (sorry, mom).
We had to visit an office other than our usual for both appointments, and this one had the fancy 4-D ultrasound machine. Yeeeee-haw! My squirmy little fetus was not being cooperative about showing her face, so this is the best we could do.
In the more traditional ultrasound view we could see her reach down to grab her feet, tugging on the instep and playing with her toes. It was pretty incredible to watch her play like that (I know, I know, you just threw up a little in your mouth).
I can certainly feel her movements now and know that she is most awake at 10am and 10pm. And when I go too long without eating some sort of tomato-based product, she will send a kicky little alert that it is time for her slave-mother to please FEED HER!
Here is her profile from today, flapping her hands about.
We're trying our best to get things in order for the arrival of our tiny drama queen. Between the lagging buyers' interest in the Avon house, settling childcare disputes via lawyers, total demolition of the room that will become the nursery, and the fact that my income is now pretty scattered, I'm just hoping that we all get through her first year with a smile on our faces and the knowledge that we will have some incredible stories of perseverance to tell her when she gets bigger.
Bless you, Daphne Josephine. You tend to give us perspective on even the hardest days.
Is that her name!?? So cute! Welcome to the world of TMI pregnancy issues! I was just disgusted and horrified so much at the same time I puked all over the room and your mushy gushiness made me puke even more. Ha. Ha. Ha.
